In April, we held a field trip exploring the health of our local rivers, led by freshwater experts Merrin Whatley and Ric Balfour. Attendees were able to experience first-hand the vibrant life that inhabits our waters, from kōura to tuna.
Mangatangi Maramarua Catchment has been focused on measuring water quality in our rivers. Using the latest technology, water is tested and compared against national and regional standards. Attend the presentation of the water testing results and the exploration of actions we can undertake to maintain and improve our freshwater rivers.
Mangatangi Maramarua Catchment are exploring how we, as a wider community, can work together to achieve our predator control goals. A pest survey in our catchment, led by Cam Speedy, a renowned predator expert is planned and will provide a benchmark of pest presence.
